The Star and Garter, Richmond

CIE were appointed as the sole kitchen contractor to this sensitive conversion of the landmark Grade II listed former Royal Star and Garter charity home in Richmond Hill. Built between 1921 and 1924 to a design by Sir Edwin Cooper, based on a plan produced by Sir Giles Gilbert Scott, this magnificent building is set just a few meters from Richmond Park. It boasts an iconic view of the River Thames that was famously captured by Turner’s watercolours. A view so precious it is protected by an Act of Parliament.

CIE worked in close collaboration with the Client to implement a contemporary aesthetic that respected the history and context of the building. We sourced the finest Oak veneer through our Italian partners to offer a Light and Dark palette, which was used in conjunction with an impeccably finished Italian lacquer. The result is a beautifully appointed kitchen design scheme that merges seamlessly into its surroundings, creating the perfect backdrop for togetherness and communication – the life and soul of every perfect kitchen.
