Innovative materials intertwined with expressive design. CIE’s kitchens at Battersea Power Station exhibited the very best in Italian artisan craftmanship and veneer finishing.
Battersea Power Station was CIE’s largest project to date, consisting of Circus West and Faraday House, the scheme comprised of 852 homes in a mix of 1, 2 & 3 bed apartments, townhouses and penthouses. The unique mix of cerused oak veneer and crackled lacquer panelling allowed the CIE designers to source and uncover a unique wood finishing technique that originated in the 15th century, revived by our Italian suppliers using non-toxic liming wax. This highly elegant finish gave CIE kitchen scheme a unique nod to the natural, observing past tradition – a theme that was critical to the success of the development of this Site in the future phases.
